Most people who use this service are making the same trip week after week through a course of treatment, and the aim is simple: the journey should be the one part of recovery you do not have to think about.
You get a pre booked taxi to your door, a driver who knows you are heading to an appointment rather than a meeting, and a person on the phone at 0480 116 602 whenever you need to change something, day or night.
Who This Service Is For
Whether TAC pays for taxi travel is decided by TAC on your claim, not by us. In general terms, this service is for you if:
- You were injured in a transport accident in Victoria and you have a TAC claim, whether you were a driver, passenger, rider, cyclist or pedestrian.
- TAC has approved taxi travel for your treatment. This is usually when your injuries make it hard to drive yourself or to use public transport.
- The trip is to treatment or an appointment connected with your accident injuries.
- You are booking for someone else who fits the points above, as a family member, carer, case manager or support coordinator.

Vehicles for Appointment Travel
Tell us how you get in and out of a car and we will send the vehicle that suits you. Crutches, a walking frame or a folded wheelchair go in the boot, and your driver will load and unload them for you.

How Fares Are Worked Out
Every trip is priced on our published rates: a flag fall plus a rate per kilometre, which changes with the time of day. The SUV and the maxi carry a high occupancy surcharge. You can get an exact figure for your own trip from the booking form before you confirm anything.
Booking a TAC Taxi
Call 0480 116 602. A person answers, day or night, and most bookings are set up on that first call. You can also use the booking form for a single trip. Either way, these are the things we will ask about:
- Where we are picking you up and where the appointment is.
- The appointment time, and whether you need collecting afterwards.
- How you get in and out of a car, so we send the right vehicle.
- Whether the appointment repeats, so we can set it up once instead of booking every week.
Standing Bookings for Regular Treatment
If you attend the same appointment on a regular schedule, we set up a standing booking so you are not ringing every week. We keep the same driver wherever we can, which most people on a long rehabilitation program end up preferring. Your driver soon knows which entrance you use, where you like to be dropped and how long your session usually runs. When a session moves or a course of treatment ends, one call changes it.
Getting There on Time
A treatment appointment is not a flight you can move. Miss a physiotherapy slot and you often lose it, and the next one might be a fortnight away. Your driver is allocated ahead of time and arrives early rather than on the minute. If we are collecting you afterwards, we work to when you are actually finished rather than to a guess, because appointments run over.
On the Day
Your driver comes to your door, helps with any mobility aids and drops you as close to the entrance as the hospital or clinic allows. Hospital campuses can be confusing, so tell us which building or department you need and we will get you to the right door, not just the main car park. If you are feeling the effects of a session on the way home, there is no rush, and the trip ends at your front door.
